"O Congresso Internacional Turismo, Lazer e Cultura. Destinos, Sustentabilidade e Competitividade que vai ter lugar na cidade de Coimbra, de 27 a 29 de Setembro de 2011, pretende contribuir para enriquecer o diálogo entre a comunidade académica (professores, investigadores e estudantes), decisores políticos, investidores públicos e privados, profissionais ligados a organizações, entidades, empresas e associações que actuam no âmbito do turismo a diferentes escalas.

A abertura do Congresso Internacional Turismo, Lazer e Cultura. Destinos, Sustentabilidade e Competitividade marca o Dia Mundial do Turismo (27 de Setembro). Para além disto, o Congresso celebra os 100 anos que decorreram desde o Primeiro Congresso de Turismo realizado em Portugal (IV Congresso Internacional de Turismo, Lisboa 1911) e, por último, mas não menos relevante, associa-se às Comemorações do Centenário da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra (1911-2011). Neste ano centenário que é de celebração a Universidade de Coimbra, detentora das mais recentes graduações – licenciatura, mestrado e doutoramento – em Turismo no Ensino Superior Universitário em Portugal, convida-o/a a vir ao Centro de Portugal e à cidade de Coimbra de 27 a 29 de Setembro de 2011."

Visita de um grupo de alunos da licenciatura em turismo ao Pena Aventura Parque para a semana, na 3ª feira 8 de Fevereiro.

Nesse mesmo dia a “Praça de Alegria” será gravada lá.

LSA BURSARY SCHEME for student (PhD) presenters

Leisure Studies Association annual summer conferences have a long-established reputation as "the" place for "freshman" researchers in leisure studies to embark on their professional/academic conference careers. The Executive Committee of the Association seeks to support and enable a continued expansion of the "LSA experience" for leisure studies students of the present and future. To that end, a new BURSARY SCHEME has been established to encourage and support the attendance of PhD candidate presenters at the LSA's annual summer conference. The scheme will be inaugurated for the LSA 2011 Conference at Southampton Solent University. See LSA 2011 call for papers at

The Scheme will award £100 each to (up to) the first 15 PhD students who have
(a)  through the regular procedure, submitted a proposal addressing one or more main conference themes; and
(b)  been accepted onto the conference programme; and    
(c)  registered or will register for the entire 3-day conference (either residential or non-residential).

The award complements LSA's already extremely preferential student registration rates, and will be credited directly towards the registration fee (no cash equivalents).  
For LSA 2011, recipients of the award will thus be able to attend the 3-day conference (residential including  meals  and accommodation)  for under £175 (regular rate less £100), or days only (3 days non-residential including lunches) for under £75 (regular rate less £100). Rules and conditions:

1. Candidates for the award (as for student registrants generally) must  show evidence of their current studentship.
2. Candidates for the award (as for student registrants generally) must be endorsed by their tutors, who must themselves be current LSA members in good standing.     NOTE: To secure eligibility for their PhD students, TUTORS can join LSA now -- see  http://www.leisure-studies-association.info/LSAWEB/JoinForm.html
3. Non-UK candidates/students are eligible on the same basis as set out in the two above points.
4. The awardees will be determined by LSA via the annual conference committee.
5. A maximum of two students per institution (per year) may receive the bursary award.
6. A student may not receive the award more than two times (e.g. in 2011 and in 2012).
7. Regular student registration rates apply after the maximum 15 awards have been designated.
8. The bursary award does not apply in the case of "open stream" submissions.
9. LSA may amend or augment the rules and conditions of the award.
